What I wanted to do...

Having identified a space in my house in which to build the layout, I set about designing the track plan.

I had a clear idea about what I wanted to achieve, which can be summarised as follows;

• Fictitious N scale Chicago Burlington & Quincy branch line
• Strong emphasis on Operation
• "Around the walls" shelf-type format
• Switching a small classification yard
• Interchanges
• Staging
• 1960s period
